Designed as a fun, first step into adventure racing,
the Frontier Adventure Challenge will thrill
you, inspire you, and leave your team with a
thirst for more. No experience is necessary
to participate and over 90% of teams feel the
rush of reaching the finish line. Adventure
racing rookies and veterans agree, the Frontier
Adventure Challenge Series is ADDICTIVE!
Solo and teams of three (male,
female and coed) participate
in a 5-8 hour adventure, covering roughly 35-40
km using a variety of oxygen-fed sports
– paddling, mountain biking, and trekking!
Each Frontier Adventure Challenge we stage draws
on our years of experience as Canada's premiere
adventure racing organization, organizing
over 100 wilderness-based races since 1998.
This guarantees that your team will be treated
to an impeccably organized and incredibly fun
challenge that offers a true taste of the spirit
of adventure racing.

Advanced: We introduced the Advanced
Section to races in 2004 and you seem to
have loved it! Teams that complete the advanced
section of the race and finish the course
in time will automatically be ranked higher
than teams that finish the course without
the advanced section--even if they cross
the finish line first! More details about
the Advanced Section is available in the
Competitor Newsletter once you register.
Long-Format: This 10-14 hour format
was created in 2003 to give Frontier AC competitors
a taste of night racing and navigation,
without a full overnight. This format evolved
into the Frontier AC Fall Classic and Canadian Championship every September, celebrating the crisp air, incredible colors, and bug-free days of autumn in Canada.

Wondering how to get started in adventure
racing? Here's some great tips to get you
going:
-
Jump Right In
- Just get two friends and learn by
doing. Remember, no experience is necessary
and over 90% of teams finish the racecourse.
This is what most people do so pick
a race and have a blast!
-
Volunteer
- See the action first hand! From Checkpoints
to Basecamp, Volunteering is THE way
to see what AR is like without actually
competing. Frontier strives to put people
in whatever role they wish.
-
Get Schooled
- Take one of our many Adventure
Racing Training courses. Taught by some
of Canada's leading adventure racers,
you just can't go wrong!
-
Read Up
- Head to the AR Resource Centre and
soak in the information. Another great
data-piece is past Race Summaries (images,
story, stats).
-
